JOB DESCRIPTION
The Therapeutic Residential Childcare Worker will work with the children on a shift basis, providing high quality childcare, assisting the shift lead/senior TRCW to therapeutically re parent children.
Reporting to: Senior TRCW, Assistant Team Manager and Registered Manager
Responsible for: The emotional, physical and developmental needs of the children within the home

Duties and Responsibilities
The following duties are not shown in order of priority or frequency, nor is the list exhaustive, but rather an indication of the type and level of duties expected of this post.
Knowledge:
- To keep abreast of changes in policy, practice, legislation and research relating to residential childcare.
- To gain a working knowledge of the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and The Quality Standards.
- To gain knowledge of Dyadic Developmental Practice and use the principles of PACE (playfulness, acceptance, curiosity and empathy) with the children
- To ensure that the requirements of the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 are met. including reporting any maintenance issues immediately to a line manager.
- To ensure that services are provided in accordance with the Company’s Policies and Procedures, commitment to diversity, equal opportunities and objectives of quality assurance.
Practice:
- To contribute to children’s care plans, their review and implementation.
- To ensure that children’s views and wishes are sought and acted upon where appropriate.
- To adhere to Clover Childcare Services policy for ‘Positive Care’ which sets out what we believe is good practice. This policy also outlines our physical measures of control and how to keep children and adults safe.
- To develop and maintain positive relationships with professionals from Placing Authorities such as Social Workers, Independent Reviewing Officers, the Virtual School as well as other agencies and organisations.
- Adhere to the dress code as highlighted in the staff handbook
To attend Statutory Reviews, planning meetings and other childcare meetings as agreed by the Registered Manager and represent the organisation with a high level of professionalism. - Where necessary, to support our children in education. This will include, at times, supporting the delivery of education at home.
- To be prepared for supervision to enable yourself to get the best out of the process
- To ensure that high quality records are kept and maintained and reports are produced within time-frames.
- To undertake sleep-in duties on a rota basis including working weekends.
- To have the flexibility to work 365 days of the year and 7 days a week, as required, including bank holidays and other holidays such as Christmas.
- To undertake a ‘key-worker’ role (a guide to keyworking will be given once a child has been assigned) with children as required.
- To be expected (if selected by the Therapy Practice Forum) to be an attachment figure in therapy and complete the necessary process. This includes an Adult Attachment Interview in most cases.
- To attend and contribute to team meetings including monthly psychiatry consults.
- To undertake mandatory training, including the Level 3 Diploma which is legally required within two years of employment, if you do not hold an equivalent qualification.
- To undertake other appropriate duties as may be required by the Directors of Clover Childcare Services Ltd.
