JOB DESCRIPTION

The Ther­a­peu­tic Res­i­den­tial Child­care Work­er will work with the chil­dren on a shift basis, pro­vid­ing high qual­i­ty child­care, assist­ing the shift lead/senior TRCW to ther­a­peu­ti­cal­ly re par­ent chil­dren.

Report­ing to: Senior TRCW, Assis­tant Team Man­ag­er and Reg­is­tered Man­ag­er

Respon­si­ble for: The emo­tion­al, phys­i­cal and devel­op­men­tal needs of the chil­dren with­in the home

Duties and Respon­si­bil­i­ties
The fol­low­ing duties are not shown in order of pri­or­i­ty or fre­quen­cy, nor is the list exhaus­tive, but rather an indi­ca­tion of the type and lev­el of duties expect­ed of this post.

Knowl­edge:

  • To keep abreast of changes in pol­i­cy, prac­tice, leg­is­la­tion and research relat­ing to res­i­den­tial child­care.
  • To gain a work­ing knowl­edge of the Children’s Homes Reg­u­la­tions 2015 and The Qual­i­ty Stan­dards.
  • To gain knowl­edge of Dyadic Devel­op­men­tal Prac­tice and use the prin­ci­ples of PACE (play­ful­ness, accep­tance, curios­i­ty and empa­thy) with the chil­dren
  • To ensure that the require­ments of the Health & Safe­ty at Work Act 1974 are met. includ­ing report­ing any main­te­nance issues imme­di­ate­ly to a line man­ag­er.
  • To ensure that ser­vices are pro­vid­ed in accor­dance with the Company’s Poli­cies and Pro­ce­dures, com­mit­ment to diver­si­ty, equal oppor­tu­ni­ties and objec­tives of qual­i­ty assur­ance.

Prac­tice:

  • To con­tribute to children’s care plans, their review and imple­men­ta­tion.
  • To ensure that children’s views and wish­es are sought and act­ed upon where appro­pri­ate.
  • To adhere to Clover Child­care Ser­vices pol­i­cy for ‘Pos­i­tive Care’ which sets out what we believe is good prac­tice. This pol­i­cy also out­lines our phys­i­cal mea­sures of con­trol and how to keep chil­dren and adults safe.
  • To devel­op and main­tain pos­i­tive rela­tion­ships with pro­fes­sion­als from Plac­ing Author­i­ties such as Social Work­ers, Inde­pen­dent Review­ing Offi­cers, the Vir­tu­al School as well as oth­er agen­cies and organ­i­sa­tions.
  • Adhere to the dress code as high­light­ed in the staff hand­book
    To attend Statu­to­ry Reviews, plan­ning meet­ings and oth­er child­care meet­ings as agreed by the Reg­is­tered Man­ag­er and rep­re­sent the organ­i­sa­tion with a high lev­el of pro­fes­sion­al­ism.
  • Where nec­es­sary, to sup­port our chil­dren in edu­ca­tion. This will include, at times, sup­port­ing the deliv­ery of edu­ca­tion at home.
  • To be pre­pared for super­vi­sion to enable your­self to get the best out of the process
  • To ensure that high qual­i­ty records are kept and main­tained and reports are pro­duced with­in time-frames.
  • To under­take sleep-in duties on a rota basis includ­ing work­ing week­ends.
  • To have the flex­i­bil­i­ty to work 365 days of the year and 7 days a week, as required, includ­ing bank hol­i­days and oth­er hol­i­days such as Christ­mas.
  • To under­take a ‘key-work­er’ role (a guide to key­work­ing will be giv­en once a child has been assigned) with chil­dren as required.
  • To be expect­ed (if select­ed by the Ther­a­py Prac­tice Forum) to be an attach­ment fig­ure in ther­a­py and com­plete the nec­es­sary process. This includes an Adult Attach­ment Inter­view in most cas­es.
  • To attend and con­tribute to team meet­ings includ­ing month­ly psy­chi­a­try con­sults.
  • To under­take manda­to­ry train­ing, includ­ing the Lev­el 3 Diplo­ma which is legal­ly required with­in two years of employ­ment, if you do not hold an equiv­a­lent qual­i­fi­ca­tion.
  • To under­take oth­er appro­pri­ate duties as may be required by the Direc­tors of Clover Child­care Ser­vices Ltd.
